{"product_id":"4-shot-pepperbox","title":"Scarce 4 Shot Percussion Cap Pepperbox Revolver","description":"\u003ch3\u003eMid 19th Century English 0.38\" Calibre Birmingham Made Percussion Cap 4 Shot Pepperbox Revolver\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA very interesting configuration of a 4 shot square fluted barrel cluster.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe steelwork has a bright finish with some staining and does show some minor signs of corrosion.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is unsigned but the body has clear foliate engraving, as does the frame and trigger guard.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe barrel cluster is numbered 1-4 at each chamber and is stamped between this with the Birmingham Proof Mark.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe bar hammer has nice \"ropework\" engraving and the muzzle is decorated with an acanthus leaf design.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe nipples are all original and are actually in not too bad condition (a little powder corrosion for sure).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe two piece wooden grips are finely hatched and are in lovely condition with no splits or cracks and the securing screw has lozenge shaped, engraved silver (white metal) surrounds. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe mainspring is strong and the double action only mechanism operates as it should.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAn interesting and unusual revolver.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBarrel cluster length 6.5cm, Overall length 19cm.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eThis antique pistol is considered obsolete and non functioning, and is sold as a collectable ornamental item.
