{"product_id":"a-cased-pair-of-flintlock-ketland-co-pocket-pistols-copy-1","title":"A Cased Pair of Flintlock Ketland \u0026 Co Pocket Pistols","description":"\u003ch3\u003eAn early 19th Century Pair Of Flintlock Pocket Pistols By Ketland In A Later Fitted Case With Accessories\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA crisp pair of pocket pistols with top sliding safety catches, signed within cartouches surrounded by Stand of Arms decorations \" T Ketland \u0026amp; Co\" on the left side and \"London\" on the right.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThey are also stamped KW \u0026amp; A which helps to date these pistols even further.  KW\u0026amp;A stands for Ketland, Walker \u0026amp; Adams, which places them in a fairly narrow timeframe when John Adams was taken into partnership and before William Walker retired, possibly 1814-1815.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe metalwork has a dark gun metal patina and there is no sign of corrosion.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe engraving, although not intricate, is crisp.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe mainsprings are strong and the action in both half and full positions are very good indeed.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBoth barrels unscrew cleanly.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe slab sided one piece walnut grips are also in great condition with no shrinkage and hardly any bruising evident on the sides although there are a few little 'dinks' on the base of the grips.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe accessories consist of a small brass tipped rammer and a small brass powder flask, (which is in fairly good shape having only 1 tiny dent and there is also a small split along a seam and the very tip of the spring is broken, which means that the brass lever doesn't engage).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThese items along with the pistols are all kept within a fitted green baise lined hardwood case, which although more modern that its contents, is actually a very nice dovetail jointed box.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA nicely presented, handsome set of pistols by a famous maker.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBarrel lengths 4cm, Overall lengths 15cm.  Case 23cm x 17cm x 6.5cm.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eThis antique pistol is considered obsolete and non functioning, and is sold as a collectable ornamental item.
