{"product_id":"an-1822-type-cavalry-pistol-made-by-the-piedmontese-government","title":"An 1822 Type Cavalry Pistol Made By The Piedmontese Government","description":"\u003ch3\u003eMid 19th Century Percussion Cap Cavalry Pistol Of Very Robust Design With Crowned M On The Lock\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA very interesting pistol that looks very similar to the French made Cavalry pistols, but without any provision for a ramrod and a tricky one to place.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is apparently a design made for the Piedmontese Cavalry (Kingdom of Sardinia) and was originally made as a flintlock in the 1820's and 30's and then converted to percussion cap in the 1840's and 50's.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is in great condition with a lovely aged patina.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe lock is stamped with a Crowned M and the hammer has a small Crowned PA (Prova d'Armi) acceptance stamp.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe back of the brass buttcap is stamped V over 192 over 1832.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe mainspring is good and the action is both smooth and crisp in half and full position.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLike the metalwork, the walnut stock is in great condition and has a lovely smooth dark colouration.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt has a few age related bruises, but no splits or cracks.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA robust and good looking military pistol in good condition.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBarrel length 18cm, Overall length 34cm.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eThis antique pistol is considered obsolete and non functioning, and is sold as a collectable ornamental item.
