About Us
We are a small independent team who live in the beautiful Somerset countryside. We began our passion and collection of antique pistols over 25 years ago. Along with so many others, due to the high price demanded by many dealers, we found that with our budget, our sources and choices, when purchasing were very limited. Hopefully as you browse you will see that we have tried to improve on that situation. We always try to source our pieces at the lowest possible prices, so that we can then pass these savings on to you. You should be able to find some beautiful individual pieces that have their original bumps and scars, which show they have been through their own battles and have made their mark in history.

Our Vision
At Flintlock & Black Powder, our vision is to be a bit different than the normal. We will always try to show each piece in great detail, in description and photos. This means you will be able to see all its defects and charm. Our aim is to cater for collectors who set themselves budgets, someone looking for that different thoughtful gift, or for the restorer who wants to bring it back to its original condition. The bespoke charm of an antique firearm is a way of preserving history and culture. We believe that each piece has a story to tell, and by collecting, caring and selling antique firearms, we are helping to keep these stories alive.

Things you might like to know
If we could say that firearms hold pride of place with arms and armour enthusiasts, then we feel that it would be safe to say that pistols hold pride of place among firearms. Collectable pistols have been in production roughly from the late 16th century to the end of the 19th century, and have evolved in so many ways through function and style. This means a wide price range, allowing for ownership of single pieces or collections to be attainable for those interested.
Did you know that in London in 1747 there were 21 distinct craftsmen making individual parts for even a modest firearm, making each piece a collection of so many different stories.
