19th Century French Pinfire Revolver In Great Original Condition
A beautifully decorated revolver of large proportions retaining nearly all of it original bluing.
The metalwork is in good condition with no pitting. The barrel and cylinder are blued and the frame is a dark steel with profuse foliate engraving and the serial number 4893.
Just below the octagonal section of the barrel is stamped F Lefaucheux inv brevete (maybe a stamping error for E Lefaucheux?) It also carries the Crowned V London Proof Mark.
The cylinder carries the Belgian Liege Proof Mark and a Crowned L inspection stamp, as well as the London Crowned V.
The two piece ebony grip is likewise heavily carved and show no damage (even the fixing screws are heavily engraved!)
The action in both double and single action operate crisply and correctly and the folding trigger has no slack in it.
A stunning revolver produced by the family of the inventor of the pinfire.
Barrel length 14cm, overall length 27.5cm.
This antique pistol is considered obsolete and non functioning, and is sold as a collectable ornamental item. This product is available for purchase in the UK without a license
