Late 18th/Early 19th Century Continental (Probably Belgian) Unsigned Flintlock Pocket Pistol

With crisp but simple engraving forming the blank oval cartouche on each side of the body and further designs that encompass the sides of the frizen, top plate and trigger guard.

The metalwork is in great condition having an even grey aged patina and no signs of corrosion.

The mainspring is strong and the action is crisp in both half and full position.

The safety catch engages correctly in half position and the smooth bore barrel unscrews cleanly.

I think that the one piece slab sided grip is made of walnut and although it has plenty of minor bruising there are no splits or cracks.

As mentioned earlier this piece is unsigned and I can find no trace of a Proof Mark anywhere, so Country or origin is a little tricky, but the styling makes me think that it is Belgian.

A clean attractive little flintlock pistol in good condition.

Barrel length 4.5cm, Overall length 18.5cm.

This antique pistol is considered obsolete and non functioning, and is sold as a collectable ornamental item. This product is available for purchase in the UK without a license
