Late 19th Century French 10 Shot Pinfire Revolver Of 11mm Calibre
A revolver of considerable proportions given the calibre and number of rounds it could hold.
The metalwork is stained but clean and unpitted, and although faded, still shows vestiges of the once fine floral detail that decorated it (clearer on the cylinder).
There are some worn markings on the right side of the barrel towards the breech, but I can't make anything of these. The cylinder is stamped with a cartouche containing a bust (a Makers Mark I don't recognise) and Crowned AR.
The mainspring is strong and the actions work as they should (single and double), with the cylinder revolving correctly.
The two piece bag shaped grip is in good condition with no cracks or splits and only minor bruising.
An unusual beast of a revolver.
Barrel length 14.5cm, overall length 28cm.
This antique pistol is considered obsolete and non functioning, and is sold as a collectable ornamental item. This product is available for purchase in the UK without a license
