Mid 19th Century Belgian Double Barrelled Percussion Cap Pistol For The Portuguese/Brazilian Market

With long 0.38" calibre barrels showing a lovely damascus pattern with a plain section along the central rib, probably meant for engraving but left blank.

The furniture, consisting of a ramrod pipe, ramrod tip, barrel wedge surrounds, trigger guard, shield shaped escutcheon and buttcap (with spring cap compartment) is made of a white metal alloy.

The two back action locks have simple floral engraving and unsigned, but the left hand lock is inscribed "A Espingarda ingleza" which apparently roughly translates to "The English Shotgun".

The mainsprings are good (right hand one is stronger) and the actions are crisp in both half and full position.

The stock (which looks like walnut) is in good condition with some minor bruising, but has no splits or cracks and has a nicely carved grip.

The white metal tipped wooden ramrod has an attached steel worm, fits nicely and I believe it to be original.

A lovely double barrelled pistol of some quality in fine condition.

Barrel length 20cm, Overall length 32.5cm.

This antique pistol is considered obsolete and non functioning, and is sold as a collectable ornamental item. This product is available for purchase in the UK without a license
