Crimea War Period Percussion Service Pistol Dated 1852 Possibly Transport Corp
A strange piece that I can find little definitive information about.
Initially it looks very much like the 6" Customs and Coast Guard pistols, but the grip is shorter and the body wider and deeper, making the whole thing a very substantial piece indeed.
The steel metalwork is stained and the barrel proof marks are worn.
The lock is clearly marked with the Crown VR, 1852 Tower and the Crown Broad Arrow.
The mainspring is strong and the action is crisp in both half and full position.
The woodwork is in great condition and on the counter lock side it is stamped W.R.
Ok, the little information I do have mentions this type of pistol as issued to the Australian Service and to the British Transport Corp.
A fine unusual Crimea War period military pistol.
Barrel length 15cm, Overall length 30cm.
This antique pistol is considered obsolete and non functioning, and is sold as a collectable item. This product is available for purchase in the UK without a license
