Late 18th Or Early 19th Century Silver Mounted Ottoman/Balkan Flintlock Pistol
A stunning long barreled pistol profusely inland with silver (white metal) decorative panels including forend cap, trigger guard, sideplate and buttcap.
It has a Balkan feel to it with its straight unadorned barrel and slender stock, but has unmistakable Ottoman connections with its star and crescent moon designs and long eared buttcap.
The mix of styles is not surprising given that the Ottoman Empire controlled the Balkan states for so long.
The neat rounded lock is undecorated, except for a makers cartouche stamped just below the frizen.
The whole of the frizen mechanism is nicely shaped and the spring unusually has a roller attached.
The mainspring is good and the action is crisp in both half and full position.
The stock is in good condition, as are nearly all the silver (white metal) panels, but there is some wire decoration missing.
A highly decorative and elegant piece.
Barrel length 31cm, overall length 44cm.
This antique pistol is considered obsolete and non functioning, and is sold as a collectable ornamental item. This product is available for purchase in the UK without a license
