Pair of Large Calibre 0.5" Early 19th Century Boxlock Flintlock Pocket Pistols Finely Engraved with Lions and Hounds

Both in fine condition featuring damascus barrels, roller frizen springs, steel button safeties and hidden folding triggers.

The bevel edged slab sided one piece grips are in excellent condition and the barrels both unscrew correctly.

The bodies are clearly stamped with the Liege Proof Mark and each has a corresponding number on the body and barrel 1 and 2.

The metalwork is in great condition with no corrosion or pitting and with a handsome dark grey patina.

Both actions work fine, but is crisper on Pistol marked 1.

The animal scenes on each side of the boxlock are very fine, depicting Lions on one side and Hounds on the other.  This is a  beautiful design that I have not seen before.

The "button" safeties seem to be cosmetic only, they are surplus to requirements and do not slide forwards or backwards.

Added to this the engraving on the trigger of pistol No 2 is worn and the action is not as defined as on pistol No 1, which is super crisp.

Overall, a pair of stunning little pocket pistols of the Georgian Period.

Barrels 5cm, overall lengths 15.5cm.

This antique pistol is considered obsolete and non functioning, and is sold as a collectable item. This product is available for purchase in the UK without a license.
