19th Century Percussion Cap Lancer Officers Pistol 0.577 calibre
A Lancer shaped stock that is 39cm long with regulation brass furniture, holding a Birmingham proved 26cm (10") rifled very heavy barrel.
There is a "bite" of walnut taken out of the grip by the brass plate and it has bruising that you would expect from a pistol of this age. The barrel key lug has a piece taken out of it, but this doesn't affect its operation in any way.
The lock is stamped with the Victorian Crown with a couple of engraved embellishments around the bolt holes and the hammer. The mainspring is perhaps a little weak, but the action holds and works in full and half position.
With silver (white metal) shield shaped escutcheon, foresight and also barrel key surrounds, clearly a military pistol of the mid 19th Century, and does not look like one for the Indian market.
An absolute monster of a military pistol.
Barrel length 26cm, overall length 41.5cm.
This antique pistol is considered obsolete and non functioning, and is sold as a collectable item. This product is available for purchase in the UK without a license.
