Mid 18th Century Queen Anne Style Boxlock Pistol By King Converted To Percussion Cap
Signed King on one side and London on the other, surrounded by scrolls and stand of arms.
The metalwork is in good condition with a pleasing smooth dark grey patina.
It has deep London Proof Marks and the walnut grip swells to accommodate a silver plated grotesque butt mask.
A very tactile piece.
The mainspring is good and the action holds well at half position, but slips in full position.
William King was apprenticed to William Rose in 1722 and was made free of the Gunmakers Company in 1732 and held several distinguished offices in his lifetime. He passed away in 1780.
Barrel length 9.5cm, overall length 24cm.
