Scarce 1856 David Herman Brevette Adams Type 2 Army Percussion Revolver
A large revolver of beautiful proportions, featuring a ring trigger and profuse foliate engraving.
It is of graceful form and a large piece with a calibre of 0.41 and a barrel length of 17.5cm.
There is a very small stamp on the right hand side of the octagonal barrel of a Crown with what I think is E I G below it, and on the other side of the barrel is a Crowned Y. This stamp is also on the cylinder, along with the Liege Proof Mark.
It is double action only and this cycles and operates smoothly.
There is minor pitting across much of the pistol, but the frame with its foliate engraving is very clear.
The tightly cross hatched one piece wooden grip is worn, but in good condition and is finely finished with an engraved buttcap.
I have only managed to find a few of these online and although this one is not signed, it bears all of David Herman's design features, so I have attributed it to him.
Overall quite a rare early revolver that is pleasing to the eye and in the hand.
Barrel length 17.5cm, overall length 33.5cm.
This antique pistol is considered obsolete and non functioning, and is sold as a collectable item. This product is available for purchase in the UK without a license
