19th Century Continental Double Barreled Pinfire Saloon Pistol
This one features a top mounted sliding safety catch. Either side of the lock it has simple diamond criss cross pattern (very worn) and the 2 piece wooden grip, having a rudimentary cross hatching.
The metalwork is in reasonable condition with very little pitting and some staining.
The right hand action and trigger works as it should in half and full positions, but the left hand action will not hold in full position although half is fine. Both mainsprings perhaps feel a little weak, but are smooth.
The barrel release catch works nicely and the spring it strong, and the top mounted safety catch is a nice touch.
A simple firearm with an interesting safety catch.
