Early 19th Century Double Barreled Pocket Flintlock Pistol By Gill

A very tidy tap action double barreled pocket pistol signed Gill on one side of the body and Richmond on the other.

The metalwork is finely decorated with engraved floral detail and intricate border work.

Featuring a top mounted safety catch that engages with the frizen and has a hidden trigger.

There are clear Birmingham Proof Marks to the body and barrels, as well as being stamped 2 and 3 for each of the barrels.  This makes me think that this pistol was originally part of a set which contained another single barreled pistol.

Barrel 3 currently unscrews, but barrel 2 is tight and as always I will leave it to others to attempt to free it.

The one piece slab sided walnut grip is plain and in great condition.

Gill (& Sons) of Richmond are listed as being located in Market Place from 1810 to 1816, after which it is listed as Robert (Gill) from 1821-1827 at the same location.

Overall a fine quality flintlock pistol, in great condition.

Barrel length 4cm, Overall length 15cm.

This antique pistol is considered obsolete and non functioning, and is sold as a collectable item. This product is available for purchase in the UK without a license.
