Late 18th Century English Dueling Flintlock Pistol by John Richards

George III period, large fine quality full stocked pistol with octagonal barrel, marked "Strand London" and clear London Hallmarks.

Elegant swan neck cock on a lock that features a roller frizen and safety catch signed IN RICHARDS.  Brass ramrod pipes and trigger guard with pineapple finial.  Lock works smoothly at half and full position with a strong but smooth main spring. 

Brass ramrod may be a replacement, and full stock has been repaired at some point at the muzzle.

John Richards was made free of the Gun Makers Company in 1781 and is recorded working at Strand between 1775 until the year of his death 1821.

This is a great centre piece for a collection.
