Quality 19th Century Otttoman Empire Flintlock Pistol With Silver (White Metal) Furniture
This is a beautiful piece, the barrel heavily chased with brass and silver (white metal) decoration.
The lock with some silver decoration still remaining and the barrel pin surrounds, sideplate, trigger guard, escutcheon and buttcap are likewise silver (white metal).
The woodwork has a lovely dark colouration and is heavily carved from the lock to the butt, which is in the bird beak style.
There are some interesting marks stamped on the left side of the barrel at the breech (Proof Marks?) and another stamp in the silver (white metal) beneath the decoration on the trigger guard.
The mainspring is very strong and the action is good in half and full position.
There is a split in the forestock at the muzzle on either side and there is a repaired crack that runs thought the butt.
In antiquity it looks as though it might have lost a sliver of wood just above the frizen spring, but the wood around this is all smooth and the barrels patina continues the same.
A really beautiful piece of Middle Eastern history.
Barrel length 25cm, overall lenght 39cm.
This antique pistol is considered obsolete and non functioning, and is sold as a collectable item. This product is available for purchase in the UK without a license.
