Early 19th Century Full Stocked Flintlock Greatcoat Pistol
Full stocked in walnut with a brass trigger guard. Of plain form but in nice condition with no splits or cracks in the woodwork, and next to no pitting or corrosion to the metalwork.
The 11cm round 0.52" calibre barrel has a smooth dark patina and carries the Birmingham Proof Marks. The lock is the same with a smooth dark patina.
The mainspring is good and the action is nice and crisp in half and full position.
It is completely undecorated and unsigned, making this a straightforward pistol made to do a job, not look pretty. Saying that, it is well proportioned and the smooth wear from handling has created a piece that is very tactile.
The all wooden ramrod is a replacement and there is some bruising (that you would expect on a piece such as this).
Overall this is a nice little flintlock pistol.
