Late 18th Century Full Stocked Flintlock Overcoat Pistol Signed Ketland & Co
Full stocked in walnut with a horn tipped ramrod and brass trigger guard, side plate and ramrod pipe.
The stepped and bevelled lock is undecorated and signed Ketland & Co and the top flat of the round barrel has a simple line engraved decoration and is inscribed "London".
The brasswork is also simply decorated and like the steelwork is in good condition with a pleasant patina.
The woodwork is in lovely condition with only a few age related bruises.
The horn tipped wooden ramrod has a steel worm fitted and I believe is original to the pistol, given its patina and how well it fits.
The action is as you would expect from a maker of quality, crisp and smooth in both half and full position.
The barrel proof marks are worn but show the P of the early Birmingham Proof.
A handsome no nonsense piece by a reputable maker.
Barrel length 12.5cm, Overall length 24.5cm.
This antique pistol is considered obsolete and non functioning, and is sold as a collectable ornamental item. This product is available for purchase in the UK without a license.
