Early 19th Century Brass Bodied Flintlock Pistol
The body with engraved stand of arms on both sides with Mabson & Labron within a cartouche on the L/H side.
With clear Birmingham proof marks and the barrel with a 2 and finely engraved muzzle.
It has a top sliding safety catch that engages with the frizen and a finely hatched one piece slab sided walnut grip with a vacant silver (white metal) escutcheon.
The mainspring has broken, but the sear spring seems ok, so that the cock pulls into half and full position correctly.
The trigger drops into position as it should, but feels loose when it is in place.
The left side of the walnut grip has an old good repair and a couple of the screws are damaged/seated incorrectly.
Mabson & Labron manufactured pistols from the early 19th Century and actually managed the Birmingham Proof House.
They were known for the quality of their work and although this one has definitely been marked by history, it is clear that this was a quality piece.
Barrel length 4cm, overall length 16cm.
This antique pistol is considered obsolete and non functioning, and is sold as a collectable item. This product is available for purchase in the UK without a license.
