Early 19th Century Brass Flintlock Double Barreled Boxlock Pistol by Archer

English tap action double barreled flintlock pistol of all brass construction, except for the cock, frizen, tap, trigger and trigger guard.

Boxlock engraved with Archer on one side and London on the other, set within cartouches surrounded by stand of arms.

Mainspring is strong and action holds in half and full position and the tap revolves crisply.

The bottom barrel unscrews, but the top one remains fixed.

There is a tiny hole drilled on the right hand side of the body next to the top barrel, this looks to be of some age as the edges are worn smooth.

Unusually the barrels are marked 2 and 3, so possibly originally part of a set containing a single barrel pocket pistol?

All brass pistols were apparently favoured by Naval personnel due to this metal being more resitant to salt water corrosion.

A very attractive all brass pistol.

Overall length 18cm, barrel length 6.5cm.

This antique pistol is considered obsolete and non functioning, and is sold as a collectable item. This product is available for purchase in the UK without a license.
