19th Century Percussion Cap Target Pistol by Blanch of London

With a finely foliate engraved lock signed BLANCH with a sliding safety catch. Sighted 2 stage octagonal to round barrel with a captive steel ramrod.

Silver (white metal) escutcheon above the grip and surrounds to the barrel key.

The mainspring is strong and the action is crisp in half and full position.

Half stock is Walnut with horn capping and a brass buttcap.

John Blanch was born in 1784 and was an apprentice to the London Gunmaker Jackson Mortimer 16 years later, and established his own business in 1809.  In these early years he mainly worked for John Manton, but soon became a respected Gunmaker.

Barrel length 26cm, overall length 39cm.

This antique pistol is considered obsolete and non functioning, and is sold as a collectable item. This product is available for purchase in the UK without a license.
