Early 18th Century 0.69" Calibre Continental Flintlock Holster Pistol With Steel Mounts And Horn Forend Cap
A very large and imposing full stocked flintlock pistol with a dark rich colouration to the walnut which is nicely carved along the forend, along the ramrod pipes, around the trigger guard and around the barrel tang. There is a large horn cap at the muzzle which is also carved and has a rich aged patina.
Other than a few bruises and two chips around the steel buttcap the stock is in lovely condition.
The steelwork is in good condition too with a bright cleaned finish that has no aged patina and there are a couple of areas that shows light corrosion.
The mainspring is strong and the action is crisp in both half and full position with the frizen spring all working correctly.
The wooden ramrod looks age worn but has snapped just behind the first ramrod pipe.
The lock is unsigned and only has a simple double line engraved border, which looks quite military in its styling.
