Late 18th/Early 19th Century British Naval Musketoon With A 0.75" Calibre 16.5" Long Barrel

A very interesting and I believe quite scarce part of the ships armoury.

Although it carries the Crowned GR with Broad Arrow (not very clear) and Tower Stamp on the barrel, the large lock is not Government issue but looks like a contract type flintlock on which I can find no identifying stamps or engraving.

It does carry some elements of the sea service brasswork though which makes me believe that it is a ship borne weapon rather than a very short cavalry type carbine.

The mainspring is good (maybe a little on the weak side) and the action is smooth and crisp in both half and full position.

The metalwork all has a lovely patina and the iron ramrod sits snuggly in place, although it is rather bent.  The walnut stock is in good condition with no cracks or splits.

There are just a few bruises and one area of filler just in front of the lock, although it is a good repair.

A scarce and interesting piece of British Naval history from the golden age of sail.

Barrel length 42cm, Overall length 81.5cm.

This antique pistol is considered obsolete and non functioning, and is sold as a collectable ornamental item. This product is available for purchase in the UK without a license
