19th Century Full Stocked Ottoman Flintlock Pistol With Silver Muzzle Band
A large piece with a full stock that lacks any of the usual carved or inlaid decoration.
It has a large barrel band that wraps around the muzzle and the remainder of the steelwork is either engraved to some extent or shaped.
The 13.5" octagonal to round barrel is devoid of any decoration with the exception of a couple of very worn ovals that may have been makers cartouches at some time.
The silver (white metal) barrel band is highly embossed and is wire wrapped at the muzzle. It is thin and has a couple of areas that are damaged.
The long plain wooden ramrod is removable (unusual on an Ottoman pistol as tribesmen would normally carry ramrods slung around their necks).
The lock has some simple floral designs engraved into it. The mainspring is strong and the action is good in half and full position.
The trigger guard sideplate and buttcap are shaped and have some nice styling to them, but the corrosion and wear is very evident.
Apart from a few knocks and bumps the plain stock is in pretty good shape, except for a repaired split that runs right through the grip.
