19th Century Prussian Military Percussion Cap Pistol

A large no nonsense Prussian Military Percussion Cap Pistol.

The metalwork is in great condition with just a small amount of staining on the barrel.

The plain lock is smooth and clean and features a dog lock type of safety catch that holds the hammer just off the nipple.

The mainspring is strong and the action is crisp in both half and full position.

It has an all steel ramrod that fits snugly into place and a long undecorated belt hook.

The brass work is not decorated, but has a pleasant patina and there is a lanyard ring attached to the butt.

The woodwork is also in good condition and has a dark patina to it.  Again it is free of markings except for a very clear circle with a cross within it.

The barrel has some markings with a serial number 336, H just in front of the rear sight and a few other markings in front of that.

One set of 3 letters is undecipherable, but the other is G & S, which I believe is an armourers/inspectors mark used on Potsdam Pistols.

The brass barrel band pin is a little rough on one end and doesn't quite locate properly through the other side.

A nice clean military piece nonetheless.

Barrel length 24.5cm, overall length 41cm.

This antique pistol is considered obsolete and non functioning, and is sold as a collectable ornamental item. This product is available for purchase in the UK without a license.
