Early 19th Century English New Land Pattern Flintlock Pistol By I Blackburron
A private issue flintlock military pistol in the form of the Light Dragoons New Land Pattern.
In great condition with regulation brass mounts and 9" barrel and the steeped and bordered lock signed I Blackburron.
The barrel has worn private Tower Proof Marks and the walnut stock has the characteristic apron surrounding the barrel tang.
The mainspring is good, as is the action in both half and full position and the frizen spring with its roller bearing is very lively!
The metalwork is in good condition with the lock having an even dark grey patina. The frizen does have a "dink" along the top.
The barrel has a lighter finish and does have light pitting across its surface.
The woodwork is in great condition with no splits or cracks and a lovely dark colouration.
As for I (or J) Blackburron, a quick search has revealed nothing, but he did make a handsome piece that has remained in great condition.
Barrel length 23cm, Overall length 38cm.
This antique pistol is considered obsolete and non functioning, and is sold as a collectable, ornamental item. This product is available for purchase in the UK without a license
