Late 18th Century English Flintlock Boxlock Pocket Pistol Signed "Dutton" and "London"
In stunning condition and retaining its original dark grey case hardening colouration to all steel components.
Crisp engraving in the form of Stand of Arms and oval cartouches on the body with Dutton inscribed on the left side and London on the right side.
The nine groove rifled barrel is also engraved with a band around the breach and a starburst type effect at the muzzle.
The pistol also features a rainproof pan and a top sliding safety catch that engages with the cock and frizen.
The mainspring is strong and the action is super crisp in half and full position.
The slab sided one piece walnut grip is also in great shape with no shrinkage, splits or cracks and just a few light bruises. It has a silver (white metal) oval escutcheon at the shoulder with the initials G W engraved on it.
The only negative point to say is that the turn off barrel is currently seized on but even the lug for the barrel spanner is in crisp condition.
A pistol that would grace any collection due to its condition alone!
Barrel length 4.5cm, Overall length 16.5cm.
