Late 18th Century American Flintlock Kentucky Pistol

An unnamed but nevertheless good quality piece, which is full stocked with a horn forend and steel tipped wooden ramrod.

The wide steel trigger guard has an acorn finial, the stepped lock features a roller frizen and the quick release damascus barrel has very thick walls.

It also has a set trigger, which really sets this pistol apart and adds to my surprise that it is not signed.

The styling of this beautiful piece is very distinctive of this type of pistol.

Given the lack of information available on the internet I can only provide a limited history about this piece.  It came from a collector who purchased it from a Mr Cushing, some years ago, whose relation in Pennsylvania inherited it.

You don't have to dig far to find information about the Cushing's of Pennsylvania, specifically Frank Hamilton Cushing, a famous anthropologist and ethnologist of the 19th Century.

Was it passed down through the family?  I guess we'll never know, but what I can say is there is very little information about these beautiful pistols in the UK.

Barrel length 23cm, overall length 37cm.

This antique pistol is considered obsolete and non functioning, and is sold as a collectable item. This product is available for purchase in the UK without a license
