18th Century Continental Dueling Pistol With Silver Mounts

A stunning silver (white metal) mounted dueling pistol skillfully converted to percussion cap in the 19th Century.

With heavily moulded silver (white metal) buttcap, escutcheon, trigger guard, side plate, ramrod pipes, ramrod and forend cap, oh and the barrel wedge surrounds.

The sighted long octagonal to round barrel is signed along the top flat, but unfortunately I cannot make out the name.  The lock is also signed and this is clearer E. Stavredhio.

I can find no information about this maker, but I'm sure a better mind than my own may be able to winkle out some information from the internet.

The ramrod is cleverly tipped with a screw on worm for unloading shot.

The design of this pistol screams late 18th Century, but the lock isn't a converted flintlock, so I can only think that this pistol was skillfully upgraded to the newer percussion cap system in the 1830's perhaps?

The mainspring is good and the action is smooth in both half and full positions.

Apart from age related minor bruising , the woodwork is in great condition.

A beautiful pistol that belies its large size by sitting well in the hand.

Barrel length 33.5!, overall length 50.5cm!

This antique pistol is considered obsolete and non functioning, and is sold as a collectable item. This product is available for purchase in the UK without a license
