Mid 19th Century Birmingham Proofed Large Pinfire Service Revolver

In superb condition with a combination of browning and bluing which is approximately 98% intact.

I would have said that this piece has been restored, but the absolutely crisp cross hatched two piece wooden grip makes it seem as though this pistol has hardly been handled.

Its lanyard ring, 9mm calibre and large size set this as a Service pistol with a folding trigger.

The barrel and cylinder are stamped with Birmingham Proof Marks and the Crowned EL for Eugene Lefaucheux.

On the right of the frame is the serial number 151281 and on the left side are the initials AS, so this piece might have been made under licence by Albert Simonis, a Belgian maker registered in Esneux in Liege from 1873 to 1903.

The date range sort of fits as the folding trigger wasn't patented until 1862.

With its spurless hammer this is a double action only pistol and needless to say it is as crisp as its appearance.

A beautiful centre piece.

Barrel length 15.5cm, Overall length 28cm.

This antique pistol is considered obsolete and non functioning, and is sold as an ornamental, collectable item. This product is available for purchase in the UK without a license.
